In 2011, at 38 years of age, Alexander did what no other man had ever done, winning both the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and the IRONMAN World Championship in the same year. In Kona, he broke both the run course record and the course record that had stood since 1996, which he managed to hold onto until 2017. That day, he also joined the prestigious group of only three other men who have won the race three or more times—a list that includes Dave Scott, Mark Allen and Peter Reid.
Having retired from IRONMAN racing, Crowie still makes the odd appearance at IRONMAN 70.3's around the world. He also spends his time coaching and running triathlon camps. As is stated on his website, the most important thing to him is family: his wife Nerida, and kids Lucy, Austin, and Lani. "Crowie's won a lot of titles over the years but the one he likes best is 'Daddy,'" the site says. "Team Alexander" is often referred to as the "first family of triathlon," dividing their time between Cronulla, Australia, and their United States-based home in Boulder, Colorado.
